Özgün is the founding and managing partner of Özok Law Office. He is the former founding partner of Akol - Özok Namlı Attorney Partnership where he led the Banking & Finance practice for over three years after working at a leading international law firm for several years.
While Özgün represents a broad range of clients on a wide variety of legal and commercial issues, he mainly focuses on all aspects of banking and finance practice, with a special emphasis on project finance, acquisition finance and structured finance transactions. Özgün advises all participants in energy, PPP and infrastructure transactions including lenders, developers and contractors. He is also specialized in acquisition and leveraged finance transactions, distressed investments, structured secured lending, debt restructurings and workouts. Özgün regularly represents banks and financial institutions on their regulatory issues and strategies before Turkish regulatory bodies and lenders and borrowers on debt restructurings in the context of pre-insolvency as well as safeguard proceedings in bankruptcy scenarios.
Özgün, who received his LL.B. degree in 2003 from Galatasaray University, is admitted to practice in Istanbul Bar Association as of 2004 and speaks English and French.
